Seeds, Songs and Scripture:

Cultivating Faith in the Soil of Every Day


On July 21-24, Whitestone Mennonite Church and Hesston Mennonite Church are partnering together to offer a series of events - a concert, worship, evening work-shop sessions, intergenerational mini-retreat - aimed at helping all ages to grow their faith. Bryan Moyer Suderman - an itinerant singer-songwriter and Bible teacher from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada - will help us to explore and use a variety of tools for cultivating faith in the soil of our everyday lives.


Saturday 9 AM - Noon at Whitestone, July 21: "Whatever You've Got!" - Discovering, Celebrating, and Sharing the Good Gifts God Gives
This mini-retreat is geared for families with children. A fun, active, inspiring time, exploring the gifts God gives each of us through songs, stories, and activities. Break with snacks provided. Nursery provided for children 2 years old and under.


Sunday 10:30 AM at Hesston Mennonite Church, July 22: "To Serve The Soil" - Re-Learning Our Role in the Garden of God
Bryan will share a musical meditation, singing through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation in reflecting on our calling in light of current ecological crises.


Sunday 4 PM at Whitestone, July 22: All-Ages Concert
An all-ages concert with Bryan Moyer Suderman is an interactive and inspirational experience that get toes tapping, bodies moving, and hearts and voices singing. An Ice Cream social will follow in the Fellowship Hall! A freewill offering will be taken.


Monday 7 PM at Whitestone, July 23: "What Do These Stones Mean?" - Engaging Children, and All Ages, in the Scriptural Story of God's Love
This workshop is especially intended for parents, worship leaders, Sunday School teachers, and others who want to reflect and explore together different ways songs can be used to nurture and deepen faith in children (and all ages, really).


Tuesday 7 PM at Whitestone, July 24: "A God Who Makes Friends" - Learning and Living God's Ways of Peace
This is an intergenerational evening workshop accessible for adults, youth, and school-aged children. Come ready to sing, move, reflect, and even write a song/create a mural as we explore biblical visions for God's ways of peace and practical peacemaking, and how those visions can take root right here in Kansas soil.


Bryan Moyer Suderman is an itinerant Bible teacher and singer-songwriter who has spent over 25 years finding creative ways to engage all ages in the scriptural drama of God's love for the world. Known for his songs of faith for small and tall and engaging, interactive style of teaching and song leading, Bryan travels extensively, speaking/teaching/singing in congregational and conference worship, retreat, concert, and workshop settings. Bryan has released 8 albums of original music, with songs that have become favorites of families and congregations, as well as published in hymnal, songbook, and curriculum resources.
